The
case of Samaria is rich with racial, social, an economic discrimination. Bishop Jakes deals with the mindset of how
the Jews looked at the Samaritans.
Jesus
expands the idea of neighbor beyond whom you share a faith system with or race
with but to those who you share the world and or world experiences.
The
Well - Jews and Samaritans shared this well and shared thirst. A meeting place
for all.
Well
controls the life force of the city.
Jesus
meets us at the place of our need.
The
Water - Jesus started the conversation
with his thirst. First thing we see in the creation story is water. We thirst
for that which we are. Only other time mentions his thirst on the cross.
What
does God thirst for?
Jesus
says if you know who it was who asked you…youd ask me for a drink. The humility
to ask the drink?
Natural
Water and Spiritual Water is present in John 4.
The
Word
The
word of God reveals God and us.
"
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any
double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints
and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." heb 4:12
But be doers of the word, and
not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if
anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his
natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself,
goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty
and continues in
it, and is not a forgetful hearer
but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
Power of his word unleashed in the
heart of man is necessary to bring man to Himself.
The Worship
Hour cometh and Now Is they that
worship…must worship in spirit and in truth.
You thirst for what you are…. God
is a spirit and we thirst for His spirit.
What would make God seek?
God is seeking his people.
I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable
service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove
what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of
God.
if
my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will
hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will
heal their land.
